I tried something this week.

I tried to do first, what most often comes last in the grand to-do list of my life.  

What did I learn?

That the hardest part is starting.

The second hardest thing is stopping, once you have momentum.

The third hardest thing is realizing you have too many things on your to-do list and must kill some of your darlings.

And that’s as far as I got this week. Stay tuned for next week’s reflections on this creative life.

Speaking of creativity…

From time to time I have been delighted to share the creative exploits of Haiku Milieuvians.

With so many projects coming out this summer from beloved artists like Robin Bienemann, Jodi Walker, Annie & Rod Capps, Sons of the Never Wrong, Peter Joly, Naomi Ashley and many more, I thought it was time to put a ring on it and make a whole new section: Haiku Milieu Highlights.

Here, we will illuminate the current projects of those who have contributed songs to the Haiku Milieu Universe, as well as their Haiku Milieu songs from the YouTube archives. Kind of a looking forward, looking back series.

CHRISTINA MARIE ELTREVOOG 

Based near the heart of Illinois in Starved Rock country, you can hear the thrum of the land and the cadence of the sun in her music.

Though she’s been part of many collaborations including MMCM, where I first met her, and now Beyond The Stars, she is releasing new music under her own name this month.

To celebrate, she put together a wonderful Spotify playlist, “Songs To Get Lit To.” Click the photo for the playlist.

I am delighted that she has included my song “Wake Up,” among many great songs from friends near and far, including Ordinary Elephant, Ernie Hendrickson, Katie Belle and the Belle Rangers, and more.
